New EU General Product Safety Regulation
Effective Date: December 13, 2024
The European Union’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) introduces new rules to ensure that only safe products are available in the market. Here's what it means for you as a seller.
What Are the Objectives of the GPSR?
The GPSR aims to:
- Harmonize EU Product Safety Standards: Establish uniform safety requirements across all member states.
- Enhance Consumer Protection: Close regulatory gaps.
This regulation ensures that consumers have access to detailed information about product origins, helping to identify safe and compliant products.
What We Are Changing
We’re updating product pages to include a dedicated GPSR section. You’ll need to provide:
- Manufacturer Information
- Safety Information
- Batch Code
Important
- By default, manufacturer details will reflect your company information. Please verify their accuracy.
- You can update information manually or via product import.
-
Ensuring the accuracy of the information is solely the responsibility of the brand.
Can Orders Placed Before December 13, 2024, Still Be Sold?
Yes, orders placed on the market before this date may continue to be sold, even if they do not meet GPSR requirements. Article 51 of the GPSR ensures that compliant products at the time of placement are not subject to restrictions.
