Marketplace vs Order Portal: comparing different systems
If you're already using the marketplace channel on Orderchamp, you may find this article helpful in understanding the key differences between the Marketplace and the Order Portal.
1. Separate interfaces for customers
The Order Portal interface for your customers is distinct from the Orderchamp marketplace. Although the portal uses Orderchamp's technology and backoffice system for your management, your customers will not see any Orderchamp branding. The portal is hosted on:
[yourbrand].orderportal.com or you have the option to use your own domain.
2. Customer access
Customers that you add to your Order Portal will not automatically be invited to the Orderchamp marketplace. You have complete control over who gets access to your portal.
3. Commission-free orders
Orders received through your portal are not subject to marketplace commissions. Instead, the pricing for using the Order Portal is based on a fixed monthly fee, along with a minimal variable order processing fee.
4. Direct sales to customers
Unlike the marketplace where Orderchamp is the merchant of record (Orderchamp buys from you and sells to the customer), in your portal, you sell directly to the customer. Payments are processed through your own Mollie account.
5. Product database and channel-specific pricing
Your Order Portal shares the same product database as the marketplace. However, you have the flexibility to:
- Publish specific products only to your portal or exclude certain products from it.
- Set different prices for your products on the portal compared to the marketplace, though the default pricing set in the backoffice will apply across all channels unless otherwise specified.
6. Customizable options
The order portal is intentionally kept plain, focused and extremely fast to make it as easy as possible for your customers to purchase. We have applied our years of experience with Orderchamp to create the best converting and user friendly portal you can have. You are in full control of your product content and your branding, meaning you can set your own logos, media, images etc.
You can also add your own terms and conditions and policies.
