How to set surcharge fees for shipments?
If you receive orders that need a shipping surcharge based on a certain region or the size or weight of the package (odd-sized shipments), you need to reach out to support@orderchamp.com to enable this in your backoffice. Surcharges are not covered by Ship with Orderchamp.
A surcharge is set per country and can be applied at order level or at product level depending on if you would like the surcharge to be a flat fee or a dynamic fee based on the number of ordered products.
When a surcharge is applied to an order, that surcharge will be paid out in full and added to your invoice. Only the surcharge will be paid out, not the regular shipping fee. The surcharge is fully paid by the retailer so we suggest keeping it at a minimum.
Setting up a surcharge
- In your back-office, go to > Settings > Shipping & Country settings > ‘Surcharges’ section
- Add a surcharge group. You will need to fill in the following information for any created group:
- Surcharge name: this name will never be shared with retailers - it is only to make it easier for you to manage surcharges.
- Products: You can add/remove product variants that will be part of the surcharge group
- You can’t select a product variant if this product was already used in a different surcharge group.
- Countries and Surcharge values: you can assign specific surcharge values for this group of products depending on the country
- You can only select countries that are part of your shipping zones. If a country is not in the list of surcharge countries, they first need to be added to your general shipping zones.
- Within the same surcharge group, you can’t assign different surcharge values for the same country.
- Options: within the same surcharge group, you can choose if you want the items of this group to stack up or not.
- If you choose to have the surcharge enabled ‘per product’: products of same surcharge group should be added
- Example 1: you have 1 product that is ordered twice in the same order, then 2 surcharges will be applied
- Example 2: you have 2 different products from the same surcharge group that are in the same order, then 2 surcharges will be applied
- If you choose to have the surcharge enabled ‘per order’ option is enabled: products of same surcharge group should not be added
- Example 1: you have 1 product that is ordered twice in the same order, then only 1 surcharge will be applied
- Example 2: you have 2 different products from the same surcharge group that are in the same order, then only 1 surcharge will be applied
- If you choose to have the surcharge enabled ‘per product’: products of same surcharge group should be added
3. Click ‘Create’
4. You can see the list of created surcharge groups and can always edit/delete them
